LaMusée
LaMusée

"La Musée" is not a typo! The title of our organisation contains the definite female article ‘La’ matched with a masculine word ‘Musée’ in French that hints on male-dominance in the art world.

To this day, most contemporary art museum collections predominantly contain artworks authored by male artists (in certain museums, this figure reaches 80% or higher). The main idea behind La Musée is to reverse the power dynamic and tackle the theme of inequality and representation of female and non-binary artists in public collections.

Our first project is The Clean Room by Sofie Muller, a thematic pavilion at the inaugural Malta Biennale 2024. Follow the project on Instagram (@lamusee.art) to stay up to date of our progress.
